Yes Man

I wish you would step back from that ledge my friend,
You could cut ties with all the lies, that you've been living in,
And if you do not want to see me again, I would understand.
I would understand.
The angry boy, a bit too insane,
Icing over a secret pain.
You know you don't belong.
You're the first to fight, You're way too loud,
You're The flash of light, on a burial shroud.
I know something's wrong.
Well everyone I know has got a reason, to say,
put the past away.
I wish you would step back from that ledge my friend,
You could cut ties with all the lies, That you've been living in,
And if you do not want to see me again, I would understand,
I would understand~

Yes! I have just watched Yes Man and it is quite an inspiring movie about positive thinkings, with dozens of hilarious scenes and funny stunts by Jim Carrey! What a coincidence since recently I have been thinking this - how positive thinkings can bring about changes in life! Jim Carrey acts as man whose life were so miserable that he rejected almost every invitations from his friends and opportunities to brighten up his dull life. While his life has never been more depressed, some incidents happened, which makes him commited to say yes to everything that he came across! What should he do then?? Does he succeed in conforming the commitment he has made which will bring horrible consequenses once he break his promise??

Somehow the story plot sounds illogical and the main actor has been incredibly lucky in everything he does, but the story does give me some good lessons and questions to ponder. When we tend to think positively about a thing, there're more than half the possibility that the thing will turn out to be a good one, sometimes even better than what we have expected. Sometimes we are too comfortable living in our comfort zone, our own world, until we are lack of the courage to try on the things we're unfamiliar with. Then we promptly jump to the conclusion that this or that thing does not suit me. Life cannot be lived twice, why don't we just give it a try instead of keep worrying about the unknown consequences behind that thing?

However, saying yes does require some wisdom! First, to come out of our own world, we practice to to say YES! Then, we utilise our wisdom to nod our heads on the things that we choose to. And most of the times they should be good and beneficial things, not those bad ones! haha~ and most importantly, say "yes" because your heart truly want to but not "yes" because of anything else.

A good movie I would recommend~ ^_^

Turn passive into Active

Turning passive into Active

Well, I'm not going to talk about active and passive sentence structure as my English proficiency is that poor T.T Below is just a little thought that recently flashed through my mind and I found it imposing subtle changes to my life every day.

Have you guys heard of Cest la vie? It means "This is life" in French. To me, this phrase seems to indicate that life is not that perfect as you wanted it to be but you have to accept it, simply because, This is life! Everybody's going to face the same problem some days or some time and so as you.. But since I've learned Buddhism, I have a different opinion about this. It ain't going to be the same all the time. Life maybe imperfect, but the main point is how are we going to look at it. It is not about mere acceptance, it's about choices you're going to choose, in your heart.

That's what I usually think subconsciously when facing the situations below:

Morning: omg i miss my bed that much..why should they put our lecture in such an early time..

During lecture: lecture again..what..exam..oh my so many homework and things to do..aih..

Learning French: Gosh there're so many hard words! yer..hard lel..

and etc. etc.

I realised that, incredibly, I have always come to these kinds of thoughts spontaneously when I face the similar situations. It may not appear as sentence or words, maybe you can just feel it by your heart. The negative power that pulling your heart down. Addition of that, I may not be aware of them at all most of the time!

Thus, I make some changes to my thought these days:

Learning French: Wow, there're so many new words to learn! It's so exciting!

Learning Dance: It's really fun!!! Great to learn new stuffs!

During lecture: I'm going to learn something relevant to my ambition now! I want to learn that so that I can be a successful pharmacist and that's why I'm here in the lecture! ^_^ (not because I'm being forced to attend)

We should be active in our lives. We are the driver of our life, not the passenger! Let all the events coming into your life because you want them and willingly take up the responsibilities that come with it. We can tell ourselves, we can CHOOSE NOT TO ATTEND the lectures and the exams ( sounds pride), but we are there because WE WANT TO learn!

You know what, in some poor countries in Africa, the learning opportunities are so scarce that when the mobile library comes to the area, all the children are so excited that they can't wait to feel the taste and smell of a book, and then read them enthusiastically for the whole day! Appreciate the bliss that are around us every day! This can create a positive inner strength from our heart and so we can work positively and happily towards our goal! ^_^
